MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was shot and killed Saturday night in Frayser.

It happened at a residence in the 1500 block of Frayser Boulevard at about 11:45 p.m., police said.

A witness told police the suspect was in the house, and when the victim came back into the house from the back yard, the witness said she heard two gun shots.

The victim, Nathaniel Galloway, died soon after of wounds to his chest and leg, police said.

The suspect, Travis Branch, 29, left the scene but later turned himself in, according to the affidavit.

Prosecutors charged him with reckless homicide.

Branch told police he shot Galloway because he mistook him for an intruder. Branch said he had been shot a few weeks ago; he thought Galloway was the man who shot him and was going to try to kill him again, according to the affidavit.

Branch is being held on a $150,000 bond.
