MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 16-year-old boy is dead after being shot in Orange Mound early Saturday morning.
The shooting in the 700 block of Semmes Street happened at about 2:15 a.m.
The victim was unresponsive when officers arrived, police said.
He was transported to Regional Medical Center in critical condition where he later died, police said.
Investigators learned two men approached the victim, who was walking in the area. The victim fled from them and was then shot.
Police are investigating and working to make an arrest.
There have been more than 40 homicides in Memphis this year.
