HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A plane crash in eastern Tennessee has left two people dead and two more injured.
The Mooney M20E crashed at the Collegedale Municipal Airport at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday after taking off from the runway, officials with the Federal Aviation Administration told WRCB.
A witness told the station the plane banked to the left when it was a few hundred feet above the ground, and it appeared the pilot tried to straighten it up but stalled and nose-dived into the ground.
“It’s like it just fell out of the sky,” the witness said.
The two survivors were airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. At least one of those people is in critical condition.
The airport is closed and won’t reopen until an investigation is completed.
