MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three people have been convicted of first-degree murder for a fatal shooting at a car wash on Lamar Avenue in August 2013.
The Office of the District Attorney General described it as a “retaliation murder” perpetrated by three gang members.
Brashard Gibbs, 22, Carlos Key, 30, and Deredious Otis, 24, were all sentenced to life in prison for the death of Robbie Webb, 51. Webb was not involved in gang activity, according to the DA’s Office.
The three defendants were also convicted for two counts of attempted first-degree murder of two other victims at the car wash. They will be sentenced for those convictions Dec. 11.
Gibbs was convicted of three additional counts of attempted first-degree murder, as well as employing a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, in a second case, a shooting that happened September 2013 on I-240 near Getwell Road.
In that shooting, the victim’s car was struck by at least 14 bullets, according to the DA’s Office, but no one was hurt.
One of the intended targets was also a target in the car wash shooting, according to the DA’s Office.
Key and Otis were found not guilty in this second case.
