MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three people are locked up and accused of running a multi-state car theft ring and possibly a meth business in a Southwest Memphis neighborhood.
Police are also on the hunt for their partner in crime who apparently got away when officers made the bust Saturday on Urbana Road.
Police arrested Skyler Buehler, Spencer Brown and Michael Bishop on theft of property $10,000-$60,000 charges.
“It is a common thing over here. The whole neighborhood has gone down to nothing,” said Royce Carlisle.
While Carlisle isn’t scared to speak his mind, he said he is afraid of the trouble happening in his Coro Lake neighborhood.
“Well look, see on my side, that’s how it makes me feel. I’m not going to let none of them mess with me,” said Carlisle, who pointed to his gun.
Carlisle heard about the commotion that happened Saturday just a couple blocks from his home.
A Crime Stoppers tip led police to a house on Urbana where they found a stolen car from Arkansas, a stolen utility trailer full of tools from Mississippi, car parts all over the place, license plates from missing vehicles, a sawed-off shotgun and a lot of meth.
WREG was told another guy with the trio took off running.
“I saw somebody run from the back of those little woods from the church parking lot,” said a 14-year-old kid who wanted to remain anonymous.
The kid was playing outside, a block from the chaos, and said the bad guy ran right past him.
“He was running straight through. The cops couldn’t find him,” said the kid.
Cops still haven’t tracked him down, nor do they have a description.
Meanwhile, his three buddies could also face drug charges.
Brown, the oldest of the group, had two arrests in the last five years for meth.
“It is sad you know. There are some good people who live over here,” said Carlisle. “There’s a lot of bad ones too.”
Investigators told WREG they are still trying to find out how many stolen cars these guys could be connected to.
