MEMPHIS, Tenn. —  Here are three things to know for October 30, 2015

1- The Senate Friday morning gave final approval to a large fiscal package that would prevent a U.S. default next week and lower the risk of a government shutdown in December.

The bill now goes to President Barack Obama, who is expected to sign it.

The vote was 64 to 35. The budget increases federal spending on defense and domestic programs more than $80 billion for the next two years and suspends the nation’s debt limit through March 2017.

The measure had broad support from Democrats but limited support from Republicans, many of whom complained that the deal, brokered by bipartisan congressional leaders, contained too much spending.

2- The Race for the cure will be held in downtown Memphis Saturday.

The race starts at 9 a.m. Saturday in front of The Peabody on Union and road closures downtown should begin around 4 a.m.

Race organizers, though, expect the streets to re-open fairly quickly after the race gets underway.

Runners will head north to Front Street, to Jefferson,  to Riverside, up Beale, to second, South Main, back to Beale and then back to Third and Union.

The race will end at Autozone Park where the expo will be held this year. You must have a race bib to get into the expo.

3- There will be extended hours at Zoo Boo today.

From 5:30 this evening until 10 tonight,  families can enjoy all the activities offered.

Ticket prices are $13 in advance and $ 15 the day of the event.

Zoo Boo is open  rain or not.
