MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Here are three things to know for Wednesday September 30, 2015.
1- An attorney for Kentucky clerk Kim Davis said she secretly met with Pope Francis.
In a press release, the Liberty Counsel said Davis and her husband met “privately” with Francis at the Vatican Embassy in Washington on Sept. 24.
They reportedly chatted about bravery, hugged and exchanged promises of prayer.
“During the meeting Pope Francis said, ‘Thank you for your courage,’” according to the press release. “Pope Francis also told Kim Davis, ‘Stay strong.’ He held out his hands and asked Kim to pray for him. Kim held his hands and said, ‘I will. Please pray for me,’ and the Pope said he would. The two embraced.”
A Vatican spokesperson would neither confirm nor deny the report.
2- Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot isn’t a record but it is pretty close, at least for this year.
The $301 million jackpot is the second largest in 2015, and it can only go higher.
Since Aug.5, the jackpot has rolled 16 times.
Powerball tickets cost $2 each.
