MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A child was rushed to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital after being hit by a car. Police responded to the crash on Raines Road near Hartz Drive and Airways Boulevard at about 4:15 p.m. The 6-year-old boy who was hit was in extremely critical condition, but died several days later. He was crossing the street behind a group of other children, police said. “I saw a little boy on the ground,” a witness at the scene told WREG. “So I turned around to see what happened. I thought maybe he fainted. When I walked up to him, his head was bloody. His eyes where wide open.” The 35-year-old driver was going eastbound on Raines in a Cadillac Escalade. He stayed on the scene, police said.
