BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. — Police are looking for a pair of robbers who pointed a loaded shotgun at an eight-year-old child’s head.
The child’s mother, Kelly Grisham, said she and her young kids had just returned home from soccer practice when two masked men robbed them in their driveway last Tuesday.
The robbery happened in a neighborhood on Westgate in Blytheville, Arkansas.
“Just scared to death really,” said Grisham. “As soon as we got out of the car, we heard two men standing there. One had a shotgun, and one had a pistol.”
Grisham said the men, who tied white napkins around their faces, demanded her purse.
At first, she didn’t hand it over.
“Then they pointed [shotgun] at my son’s head and then said give ‘me everything you have’,” said Grisham.
Once the robbers got what they wanted, Grisham said they took off and hopped in a car parked around the corner.
A neighbor saw them and followed them while she called the cops, but the two robbers hopped out near Dixie Street and got away.
On Friday, police went to Blytheville High and arrested a 16-year-old girl, a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy who detectives said were in the getaway car.
“Already committing those crimes at such a young age, that’s sad,” said Grisham.
What hurt her the most though, her children are having a hard time recovering.
They want to get inside before the sun sets, always ask if it’s safe and wake up from nightmares.
“My son, I mean it’s been a every day thing. All day. Every day. He’s just scared,” said Grisham.
She hoped someone comes forward with information before another family has to go through this horror.
“What do you tell them? That are going to be safe? mommy and daddy are going to keep you safe?” she said. “You can’t promise that. They are eight and ten. ”
