CLEVELAND, Miss. — A note left behind by the Delta State University killer Shannon Lamb and a clip of the 9-1-1 call made to dispatch has been released just hours after Monday’s horrific events came to an end.
According to WJTV, Shannon Lamb called authorities in Gautier, Mississippi Monday morning around 10 a.m.
Below is a transcript of that call:
Police: “Gautier Police.”
Lamb: “Um…Yes, you need to send some units over to 2320 Santa Cruz.”
Police: “What’s going on there?”
Lamb: “I shot my wife last night…”
Police: “You said it’s 2320 Santa Cruz?”
Lamb: “Yes…There is a dog in the house and he’s a sweet dog it’s not going to bother anybody but I’m sure he’s upset.”
Police: “Okay sir…What is your name?”
Lamb: “That’s all I feel like saying right now. Just go and take care of her. You’ll find all of her family’s phone numbers and things in her phone. You can contact them.”
Police: “What is her name”
Lamb: “Amy Prentiss”
Police: “Amy Prentiss?”

When they arrived, the found Amy Prentiss dead inside the home she shared with Lamb.
In addition, a letter of apology was found that said, ” I am so very sorry. I wish I could take it back. I loved Amy and she is the only person who ever loved me.”
Police are still searching for a motive in the case.
At this time, Gautier Police have no indication of any relationship between the victim at Delta State, Dr. Ethan Schmidt, and Prentiss.
