OXFORD, Miss. — The man accused of killing 21-year-old Ole Miss student Ally Kostial in July entered a not guilty plea in an Oxford court Monday.
Brandon Theesfeld, a 22-year-old former student from Texas, is charged with capital murder.
Theesfeld stayed silent Monday when asked if he killed Kostial.
He was indicted in August, and his attorneys asked the court for a mental evaluation.
Kostial, 21, was found dead in Harmontown, Mississippi in July. Theesfeld was later captured at a gas station in Memphis.
The motive for the alleged crime is unclear. Photos show the two together at social functions, friends said the pair dated off and on.
Kostial was heavily involved at Ole Miss, teaching yoga and pilates and starting a golf club, and she was a member of a sorority.
