Achievement School District Prepares to Take Over 10 More Schools

(Memphis, TN) The state-run Achievement School District is preparing to take over another 10 schools in Memphis for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year.

ASD currently consists of five Memphis City Schools that the state took over at the beginning of the 2012 school year.

Three of those schools are directly run by the state, while two others are run by partnering charter school organizations, Cornerstone Prep and Gestalt Community Schools.

ASD will make its decision Dec. 17 on which 10 schools will join that list in the fall of 2013.

There are currently 14 schools they could choose from:

1. Graves Elementary School

2. Norris Elementary School

3. Alcy Ball Elementary School

4. Corry Middle School

5. Cherokee Elementary School

6. Hanley Elementary School

7. Shannon Elementary School

8. Treadwell Elementary School

9. Caldwell-Guthrie Elementary School

10. Klondike Elementary School

11. Cypress Middle School

12. Georgian Hills Elementary School

13. Denver Elementary School

14. Whitney  Elementary School

To choose 10 from this list, ASD officials are speaking to faculty and staff at each of these campuses.

They also invite parents and community members to attend any of the following informational meetings:
