(Alpine, MS) The FBI confirms Adam Mayes is dead after shooting himself in the head.
The two Bain children, 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah, are safe and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The FBI also confirmed Mayes and the kids were in a hunting-type lodge in the woods the entire time they were missing.
The Bain sisters are suffering from dehydration, but otherwise OK.
The children have now arrived at Le Bonheur Chidren’s Hospital for further care.
We are told Mayes was surrounded behind The Zion Hill Church in Alpine, MS.
Officers said he shot himself in the head.
A special operations team happened upon Mayes and the girls off of a road near the church.
Mayes’ wife, Teresa, told investigators her husband killed Jo Ann Bain and her 14-year-old daughter Adrienne back on April 27th in Whiteville, TN, all so he could kidnap the two younger daughters.
