HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — A bird’s-eye view gives a clear look at the destruction of the tornado and storm damage in north Mississippi.

Pictures taken from News Channel 3 crews from a helicopter show a trail of damage across several counties.

One of the hardest hit areas is Marshall County, where two people were killed. In the town of Holly Springs, which is about 45 miles southeast of Memphis, homes are heavily damaged and, in some cases, completely destroyed.

Thursday a Wal-Mart parking lot has been transformed into a temporary staging area for emergency personnel tending to those affected by the storms.

The storm’s wrath wasn’t just isolated to Marshall County.

Benton County was hard hit, as well; at least four people lost their lives there. The town of Ashland saw widespread damage.

Giant power lines were no match for the force of Wednesday’s strong winds. The power lines were knocked down, along with large trees in the area, causing power outages and dozens of injuries.

Gov. Phil Bryant said all together the storms cut a path of damage that stretched 150 miles.
