(Memphis) The dark green sheen recently spotted floating across part of the Mississippi River is just algae.

Crews in Illinois had described it as a “John Deere” green substance.

That led some to believe the company may have polluted the water way with green paint.

John Deere sent scientists to test the substance and they say it’s algae.
