TUCSON, Ariz. — The nationwide Amber Alert that was issued for two Arizona children has been canceled after they were found safe in Louisiana.

According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers spotted Melissa Joy Gladden and Jerry ‘Jay’ Kirkley as they were traveling eastbound on I-20 in Bienville Parish. The two children, two-year-old Blaze and five-month-old Ryder Kirkley, were in the backseat safe.

Officials said the children were last seen around 7:30 a.m Tuesday, July 16. They were in in custody of the Arizona Department of Child Safety until 7:30 a.m. when they were reportedly taken by their parents.

Authorities said Kirkley is known to carry weapons and has a history of domestic violence.
