Arkansas confirms first case of West Nile virus

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A spokesperson with the Arkansas Health Department confirmed its first case of West Nile virus for the year.

According to THV 11, Kerri Krell said one person has tested positive for the mosquito-borne illness.

Officials have not released the person’s location or any information on where they possibly contracted the virus.

The CDC said most people who get West Nile don’t show any symptoms and those who do develop a fever.

That fever can be accompanied by a headache, body aches, joint pain, rash, vomiting or diarrhea.
