UNION COUNTY, Ark. — A Mid-South mother is behind bars after police say she gave her baby a bottle of bourbon.
Lori Sheppard of Union County admitted to giving her 10-month-old bourbon in order to relieve his teething pains, THV11 reported.
Sheppard said she had already given the child infant Tylenol and Motrin, but that didn’t appear to help.
That’s when her mother suggested rubbing alcohol on the child’s gums to help alleviate the pain.
Instead, she filled a baby bottle with bourbon and gave it to the child.
When he arrived at the hospital, the toddler had a blood alcohol content of .19.
The baby and his twin siblings were both taken into child services’ custody.
