(Mississippi) Officials in Mississippi are one step closer to having an armed police officer in every school in the state.
Today the Senate Education Committee approved a $7.5 million grant to fund the initiative.
Earlier this month, Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves proposed that the Mississippi Legislature fund grants to match up to $10,000 per school for trained law enforcement officers.
An estimated 369 of the state`s approximately 1,000 public schools already have an armed officer in schools.
