MEMPHIS, Tenn. — WREG pulled documents from Germantown Police and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office about the deputy arrested for DUI over the weekend.

A Germantown Police official said one of his officers on patrol spotted Lewis Noblin.

The incident report said his Sheriff’s Office motorcycle was on its side, and Noblin was leaning against it.

It said the incident happened just north of Poplar and Kirby Parkway at 12:51 a.m. Sunday.

The officer radioed the Sheriff’s Office and Memphis Police since Noblin was technically in Memphis city limits.

Noblin was off the clock at the time of his arrest.

The Sheriff’s Office still won’t talk about this case while it is under investigation.

However, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrest ticket revealed some of the story.

It said Noblin’s bike fell over while stopped at a red light, and said he was staggering, had slurred speech, and had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath.

The ticket said Noblin refused to let officers check his blood alcohol content.

Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell spoke with WREG earlier this week about the incident saying, “I think that’s inexcusable. If indeed it proves to be true, then it’s inexcusable.”

It remained somewhat unclear on Thursday who was investigating Noblin and why.

The Sheriff’s Office spokesperson previously told WREG the Germantown Police Department was also involved in the investigation.

However, a Germantown Police official said past that initial incident report, it wasn’t their case.

Germantown’s report said the Sheriff’s Office would be handling the crash, and MPD left the scene.

MPD said the Sheriff’s Office had jurisdiction.

WREG has an appointment to review Noblin’s personnel file Friday.
