MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 14-year-old girl who was shot and killed in an overnight homicide in Whitehaven has been identified by family.
Gabby Harris was reportedly gunned down while washing the dishes at her grandmother’s house and police have yet to find the shooter.
Nearly 24 hours later, Crime Stoppers told WREG they’ve yet to receive a tip.
In a statement, Harris’ family says they’re “deeply saddened at the loss of their loved one. We pray for an end to the senseless violence rampant in today’s society. We implore anyone with knowledge of this crime to please come forward.”
It’s unclear who shot into the home on Lydgate Avenue on Sunday evening and why, and if they meant to kill the teen.
The teen’s classmates told WREG Harris went to Whitehaven High and was a member of the Pom Squad.
On Monday, Shelby County Schools said grief counselors were there as students got back from the winter break.

Neighbors felt sick to their stomach when they heard the news.
“Those bullets don’t have a name. They can go anywhere,” said Corey Parker. “She should be able to play and live her life out. All of them should.”
Just hours before, police said another teen was shot in the 400 block of West Shelby Drive. That time it was a 16-year-old-boy.
At last check, he was in critical condition at Le Bonheur, and no one is in custody.
Unfortunately, this has been a story far too common these past few months in Memphis — innocent children falling victim to gun violence.
The worst part is, some of the crimes remain unsolved. Investigators say they are not getting the information they need from the community to solve the crimes.
