BARRETVILLE, Tenn. — A blues legend and mid-south treasure was honored during a special ceremony Saturday afternoon.
The Tennessee Historical Commission unveiled a marker in tribute to blues great, Bobby Blue Bland.
A dedication ceremony was held in Barretville, ahead of the Rosemary-Native’s birthday. He would have celebrated his 85th birthday this Tuesday.
Blands family and friends say the marker represents the singer’s influence on American music.
The event was held in conjunction with the 31st annual International Blues Challenge happening at the Orpheum Theatre.
