SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — A 17-year-old Bolton High School student was charged with bringing a gun to the school Monday, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said.

The student was taken into custody shortly after 2 p.m. No one was hurt.

Principal Shanda Gnintedem sent a voicemail to Bolton parents saying the school had received a tip that a student had a gun at school. The student was searched by school officers and a weapon was found and confiscated, she said.

The student did not make any threats with the weapon, the principal said.
