Some may say goats are cute, but what would you think about doing yoga with them?
That’s a different story, but it’s actually a growing trend that has made its way to the Mid-South with 901 Goats.
Lindsey Champagne and her family maintain 28 goats at Walkapony Goat Ranch in Rossville.
“Right now we are inside our Goat Barn. It’s our furnished little event venue where we do our baby girl snuggles and cuddle therapy,” Champagne said.
In 2020 Champagne and her husband, first generation ranchers, expanded from goats, turkeys and chickens when all of the goats had babies back-to-back.
“We invited friends and family to come and put their hands on them and love on them, not knowing there’d be this snowball effect of people wanting this fuzz therapy something a little different,” she said.
“So people we didn’t know started reaching out to us wanting this. And so I was like, okay, well, let’s do this,” she said.
She says it’s the first business of its kind in the area offering goat yoga and goat cuddle therapy.
“It’s a great therapy,” she said. “You know, they come up and they just tend to touch your soul a little bit. There are some that will look you right in the eyes and you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, you can read my thoughts right now and I need this.’ And some just simply need to sit quiet with an animal and just kind of let that everyday things just kind of melt away while they’re sitting there,” Champagne said.
