MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An armed robber hit a Broad Avenue business in broad daylight, police say.

Police responded to the Five In One Social Club store at 2:40 Sunday afternoon.

The owner told them a man came in the shop and asked to use the bathroom and for a cup of water.

He then pointed a gun at the owner, took cash and demanded more money.

Police said the suspect went out the front door, going west on Broad and south on Merton.

Broad Avenue Arts District visitors said they still feel safe in the district.

“You see a crowd on a regular basis here. You know, families, kids, husband and wife,” said Barry White. “That’s very surprising especially in broad daylight.”

MPD’s crime tracker shows in the past three months, there’s only been a couple car break-ins, vandalism and a burglary on the block.

WREG spotted Sky Cop cameras in the area, but it’s unclear if they captured the robber running away.
