Germantown Parkway power restored

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After more than 16 hours without power, Germantown Parkway power was restored around 2 p.m. Monday. MPD reports, “Traffic is flowing at a normal rate and all traffic lights are functioning properly.”

The power went out after two cars crashed in front of the Wolfchase Galleria on Germantown Parkway Sunday night.

Numerous businesses, hotels, and residences were affected.

MLGW said several crews were needed and some lines are underground, which complicated the matter.

An MLGW utility pole was damaged, causing a power outage from near Chimneyrock Boulevard to Stage Road.

If that wasn’t bad enough, downed power lines then got caught up in the wheels of a semi-truck.

The outage meant there were no traffic signals from Chimneyrock to Stage Road. Also, Germantown Parkway was closed from I-40 to Stage Road.

The 74-year-old female driver was taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
