MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Christian Brothers High School has hired Thomas McDaniel as their new head football coach.
McDaniel is familiar with Memphis, having graduated from Bartlett High School.
Coach McDaniel head coach at Murfreesboro-Oakland High School since 2008 with an overall record of 68-20 and several appearances in the state playoffs.
The school won the state championship in Class 5A in 2008.
“We are excited to have Coach McDaniel lead our football program into the future,” said Mike Kelly, CBHS Athletic Director. “Thomas McDaniel has worked hard to become one of the elite coaches in the state of Tennessee. He is a proven, successful coach and has done an exceptional job of developing young men as football players, students and citizens. We believe that Coach McDaniel’s high energy and passion will be a great fit in the Christian Brothers community.”
Coach McDaniel will be moving to Memphis and getting to work at CBHS quickly. “The history, tradition and brotherhood that Christian Brothers High School offers is unrivaled,” said McDaniel in a news release. “Being chosen for such a wonderful opportunity is extremely humbling. Like all areas of our school, the football program will work tirelessly to achieve excellence.”
McDaniel currently serves as the president of the Tennessee Football Coaches’ Association and he graduated from Tennessee Tech in 2001 and he earned a Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Bethel University in 2014.
