JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. — “A Charlie Brown Christmas” isn’t so Christmas-y anymore after a Kentucky school district mandated that schools remove references to religion in class time and activities.

One elementary school was already planning to put on a play of “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” so it had to make some adjustments, CBS-affiliate WKYT reported.

Namely, Jesus got cut, as well as a Bible passage that describes Jesus’ birth.

The censored version of the play was performed Thursday.

Many parents were upset about the decision, but the superintendent told WKYT he made the choice after receiving a complaint about Jesus being used in school plays.
