(Bartlett, TN) Susie Hite says a child porn scam disgusted her so much she got a migraine headache, “What it does to you emotionally is bad enough, but to have someone be taken by it monetarily as well. You know money’s tight for a lot of people.”
Hite was trying to send an email to someone at her church when her computer screen was taken over by a pop up, and the image shocked her, “It’s a photograph of a child being raped. A little girl, and all of this wording that looked like it was from the federal government that accused me of I guess having pornography.”
The pop up told her she had to put $300 on a prepaid debit card and send it to a certain address then the illegal porn would be cleared off her computer.
If she didn’t send the money they would turn her over to police.
Hite says there was also a box beside the graphic picture where Hite’s picture, taken by a web cam, was supposed to be captured.
Luckily she doesn’t have a web cam.
“You’re victimized by having it in your home on your screen and having to look at it, but be victimized financially as well, because I won’t forget this for a long time,” said Hite.
While Bartlett police call this an isolated incident they did take down a report so officers can do more investigating.
The police department says investigators will try to find the source of that pornographic picture and who sent it.
