TATE COUNTY, Miss. — A girl was killed Thursday after an accidental shooting at a home in Mississippi.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Crockett Road, just outside Senatobia, according to the Tate County Sheriff’s Department.

A girl, either 7 or 8 years old, was shot and killed after an accidental shooting, District Attorney John Champion said.

The sheriff’s office initially suspected a home break-in before the shooting, but the DA said an investigation revealed there was no home break-in.

No other information has been released yet about the child’s identity.

Champion did not say who the suspected shooter is or if parents were home at the time of the shooting. He said there will not be charges filed in the shooting.
