MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 6-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a vehicle.

Police responded to a pedestrian crash at Josephine and Spottswood at 4 p.m. A small park with a playground sits at the intersection.

According to a witness, the little girl was crossing the street with her sister. Her sister tried to pull her back when the car hit her.

Police said the child was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where she later died. The driver stayed on the scene.

The driver of the car will not face charges, police said.
