QINHUANGDAO, China — Your eyes aren’t deceiving you — China has actually built the “straddle” bus from the concept video that has been circulating on social media for the last year or so.

The Transit Elevated Bus (TEB), made its first test run in Qinhuangdao City for a brake and power consumption test along a 300-meter long stretch of track.

The TEB features an elevated passenger compartment that allows multiple lanes of traffic to pass beneath it.

The 22-meter long passenger compartment is designed to hold 300 people, according to China Xinhua News.

Engineers plan a long-distance test of the TEB next year, and hope the vehicle will ease traffic congestion and improve mass transit in crowded cites.
