Christ Community Health Services extends its services in Frayser

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Families who struggled to get access to healthcare for years are now getting some extra help.

Christ Community Health Services’ location in Frayser extended its services.

That means those families now have one location where they can get access to dental pharmacy services and much more. For so long, they had to travel to other places.

During the ribbon cutting at Christ Community on Friday, community leaders celebrated what’s now the full-service center.

It originally opened its doors in November, but the latest addition gives more people in Frayser access to healthcare.

“I think this means improved healthcare for the community, and Memphis is in desperate need of improved healthcare,” Christ Community CEO Ed Roberson said.

Destinee Chambers, 17, said she hopes that’s the case.

The teen lives in Frayser and knows the importance of healthcare because of Girls Inc., the mentoring program she’s in.

“One thing we learn is about health and teaching young ladies how to be healthy, so this is it, Christ Community, this is one way we can come out and support our community,” she said.

Elizabeth Genco, the senior director of school operations for the Achievement School District, said she sees kids every day who have a tough time getting dental work in the area and have no transportation.

“So the expanded access, the difference between the small facility they used to have and this facility where they can get medical, dental and pharmacy services is astronomical,” she said.

“It’s more convenient to people in the community.”
