MEMPHIS, Tenn. —Council members unanimously approved J.T. Young as the new MLGW CEO-President.

Young’s salary will be set at $320,000 with a term expiring March 19, 2023.

Council members were introduced to Mayor Jim Strickland’s choice to replace retiring MLGW president and CEO Jerry Collins at Tuesday’s general council meeting.

Young currently serves as customer service and marketing general manager for Gulf Power in Pensacola, Florida.

Young will take office March 19.

The City Council also approved starting the deannexation process for two parts of Memphis — Eads and the riverbottoms area in the southwest corner of the city.

Council members also approved increasing the term limits on mayor and city council seats from two to three terms.
