SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — It’s a changing of the guard in Southaven.
Deputy Police Chief Steve Pirtle will replace Tom Long as police chief, and Deputy Fire Chief Roger Thornton will replace Ron White as fire chief.
Southaven aldermen appointed the two to the positions this week.
Long and White are retiring Jan. 22, and Pirtle and Thornton will assume their new positions the next day.
The two retiring chiefs have both been with the city since the 1980s.
