WASHINGTON — Congressman Steve Cohen introduced a resolution of no confidence in President Donald Trump’s leadership.
The Tennessee Democrat held a news conference Wednesday morning.
“President Trump has been President for six months and his probationary period is long over,” Cohen said. “This resolution sends a clear message to the President that we disapprove of his cumulative actions, that we are simpatico with our constituents and a majority of the America people, and that we have no confidence in his service.”
Cohen said the President’s refusal to release his tax returns or dissociate himself from his private business interests was the first offense in a long series of “unacceptable behavior.”
His firing of former FBI Director James Comey, the release of classified information to Russian officials and his constant use of Twitter to insult members of the press, the Judiciary and Congress didn’t help, Cohen stated.
Cohen was joined by lawmakers Barbara Lee, Sheila Jackson Lee, Al Green, Judy Chu, Mark DeSaulnier, Bonnie Watson Coleman and other members of Congress.
Cohen represents Tennessee’s 9th District, which includes most of Memphis.
