MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A cold case rape is solved after a 12-year-old rape kit is finally tested.

Now the victim’s attacker is going to prison and he faces even more rape charges.

A jury found 45-year-old Jacquet Moore guilty of an aggravated rape that took place 16 years ago.

The victim was abducted at gunpoint in Whitehaven, forced into a car and assaulted.

Her rape kit was tested in 2012, identifying Moore as her attacker.

He’s also charged in three other cold case rapes; one in 2000 and two in 2003.

An investigation by WREG exposed more than 1200 rape kits were sitting in warehouses, never tested.

Since our investigation, thousands of rape kits are now being tested and arrests are being made.
