MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are still trying to get people to come forward after a number of deadly shootings. Four people died in 24 hours following three shootings in Memphis.
One person was hurt following a separate shooting at Edison Apartments in downtown Memphis Monday morning.
WREG did some digging and found there was no security at the time of a deadly double shooting at the Tulane Apartments over the weekend.
Tenant Lisa Williams told WREG the complex’s security guards have done a good job of reducing crime over the past few years, but says the guards go home at 11 p.m.
LEDIC, the company that manages the property, said the shooting happened after security left for the night. LEDIC said it beefed up security after the shooting.
Last week, the owner of Tulane Apartments, Global Ministries, faced a judge for several charges such as failure to maintain living conditions at Tulane Apartments and two other complexes.
The Shelby County commission gave the same owners 60 days to address safety issues or face a resolution urging the Feds to step in and stop section eight funding.
Police are also investigating a robbery that happened in the 2300 block of Staten around 11 p.m. Friday. They said a man was fatally shot.
Memphis Police also responded to another shooting death around 9 p.m. Saturday on Prescott. Police believe someone shot the victim in a robbery.
Monday, Memphis Police identified the four people killed.
