PINSON, Tenn. — Law enforcement and a slew of volunteers braved the cold weather to search for a 2-year-old Chester County toddler.
Noah Chamberlin has been missing for three days.
The cold weather is making this search and rescue operation that much more difficult, but many volunteers we talked to tonight aren’t letting the cold weather get in the way.
Dozens of people lined up outside of the Pinson Baptist Church in Chester County on Sunday, prepared to search for Noah.
“I’ve really seen the community come together.”
The little boy was reported missing last Thursday after disappearing into the woods around 1:30 that afternoon.
Mary Poland drove from Alabama to help search for the toddler. She said knowing that Noah could be in danger is tough to deal with.
“I have a 2-year-old grandbaby, and you know if it was my family I would want them to be there for me,” she said. “It really has. It’s been very hard.”
Even more difficult, volunteers say the area where Noah was last seen – is very rough.
“Very rough. In fact, I’ve been in the area a lot. It’s a lot of…that’s been cut. A lot of sinkholes in there.”
Sunday morning, law enforcement chose to search the grounds on their own. They went out around 7 a.m.
“Sometimes I wonder if they should have invest — just got the right people the first time. But you’ve got so many people that want to help.”
As the night fell, so did the temperatures.
Volunteers called back to help are using anything they can to stay warm.
But these folks aren’t worried about themselves in the freezing temperatures. Their focus is on bringing this little guy home.
“It’s very concerning. I mean every minute is vital.”
“Just stay tough little buddy,” Poland said. “Hang on, we’re coming, and God’s got his hand around you.”
Volunteers told WREG this will likely be a long night because they plan on searching for as long as it takes.
Chester County’s sheriff said he hasn’t given up hope and still considers this a search and rescue operation.
