MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A convicted sex offender is back in jail on Wednesday after brutally attacking a woman in Murfreesboro.

Witnesses on the scene told investigators the victim pulled into a spot in a restaurant parking lot Wednesday afternoon.

At the same time, 48-year-old Michael Maynor pulled up in a pick-up and waited for the woman to get out of her car.

When she did, he jumped out and tried to pull her inside his truck.

Police said he choked and fondled the woman, but then threw her to the ground when she started struggling to get away.

Two men on the scene heard the woman’s screams and rushed to help her.

Maynor was quickly apprehended and booked into jail on a $500 bond.

He was charged with kidnapping, assault and sexual battery.

WTVF reported Maynor had previously been convicted of sex crimes in Florida and North Carolina.
