MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Cordova High School was evacuated Tuesday morning, a Shelby County Schools representative said.
At 11 a.m., Shelby County Schools said everything was all clear after deputies searched the school, and students are back in the building.
A bomb threat was sent in to the school, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chip Washington said. No bomb was discovered.
SCS said the threat was in an email message sent to a teacher. The teacher immediately reported the message to security and the sheriff’s office.
The evacuation was done as a precaution.
The school day will go on as normal with no early dismissal, according to Shelby County Schools.
However, many parents came to the school to pick up their children. SCS said this was due to a different news outlet falsely reporting that the school would dismiss early, which caused confusion.
The Cordova High School principal sent a call to parents about the incident.
