CORDOVA, Tenn. — A Cordova woman told WREG teens were terrorizing her neighborhood.
She said they were vandalizing homes and other property on Cinder Hill Cove, not far from Chimney Rock near Cordova High School.
WREG talked with neighbors who said the problem was so bad, people moved out of their homes.
“The answer is not leaving your neighborhood, the answer is to stand up in your neighborhood and say you’re not going to do this in my neighborhood,” said a neighbor who didn’t want to say her name because of fear of retaliation.
She was the watch captain in her Cordova neighborhood, and she said teens were throwing bricks and rocks at people’s cars and homes.
“There are small children in this neighborhood. I don’t have any small children but as a former teacher I take offense to anybody who’s going to endanger my neighborhood,” she said.
Neighbors told us the teens were even kicking though the fence in the neighborhood to get through and leaving behind a lot of damage.
When the neighbors told them to stop, they said the teens won’t listen.
“If I saw somebody coming to my yard I’m going to go out there say something anyway,” said George Williams who lived near the area.
“It’s just like a welcome matt to whoever wants to walk through here because they know they can’t get caught here,” said the neighbor.
The woman said she confronted teens Wednesday when they were caught trespassing near the fence.
Neighbors said it’s also an area where drug dealers meet.
They told WREG they caught teens playing a game of dice.
“And someone approached them and said what are y’all doing and said we want your money and so this person drove away because they didn’t want to cause any problems,” said a neighbor.
Neighbors told us they contacted police about this problem.
