MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say a man a woman are responsible for a string of burglaries in East Memphis and the Parkway Village area.
They were caught after police found a number of stolen items in their vehicle during a routine traffic stop.
Leon Beard and Robin Wells are both facing several counts of aggravated burglary and theft of property.
Police said last month they burglarized a house on North Perkins and a house on North White Station in East Memphis.
They were also accused of breaking into a home on Bryndale in the Parkway Village area.
Courtney White said thieves pried open the front of her house on White Station and took a lock box, some electronics, jewelry and her four-year-old’s piggy bank.
“I was like what kind of person takes a piggy bank,” said White.
A man who lived across the street on White Station Road said his home was burglarized about nine months ago and someone also hit the house behind his.
“I told my neighbor when it happened and they put in an alarm system and I have one now,” said Tyler Field.
So far, police have only tied Beard and Wells to the three burglaries in June.
Investigators said when they stopped their vehicle Beard ran from police.
They say his prints were on some of the stolen items.
His bond was set at $75,000.
