HORN LAKE, Miss. — The parents of a boy found dead in a Horn Lake home pleaded guilty to killing their son Thursday.

Tyler Raines, who was 11 years old, weighed only 56 pounds when he was found dead in February of 2014 at the family’s home.

Tyler’s father Jack, and stepmother Amanda, were charged with capital murder but agreed to second degree murder.

The couple faced 20 years to life when sentenced at a later date.

Family members who saw the boy in the funeral home say he had bruises all over, what appeared to be cigarette burns on his face, and ligature marks on his arms and legs, which means he likely had been tied up.

At the time they were charged, assistant district attorney Steven Jubera told us, “I can speak personally, shock horror. I don’t’ think anybody who saw the child will ever be left unaffected.”

Several other children in the home were taken into protective custody.
