MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A section of U.S. Highway 51 was shut down overnight following a multi-vehicle crash involving a FedEx tractor trailer.
The accident happened around 11 p.m. Monday near Millington Road.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is handling the investigation but the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office did confirm that one person was airlifted to a Memphis hospital.
So far, investigators haven’t released any information about what caused the crash.
Deputies say they also worked a separate crash in the same area a few hours later — but it was unrelated to the original crash.
The highway should be fully reopened by the beginning of the morning rush hour.
