SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — CrimeStoppers released very encouraging news on Wednesday.

According to reports in May of 2015, 29 citizen tips were rewarded, totaling in more than $9,800 being paid.

The organization released the following statistics:

  • Tip Volume is up 17.66%.
  • Felony arrests resulting from tips is up 13.28%.
  • Successful tips received is up 11.59%.

There are multiple ways to submit a tip to CrimeStoppers.

To send a tip by text message, send the work “Award” and a message to CRIMES (274637).

To send a tip over the internet, click here.

To call in a tip, dial (901) 528-CASH.

As always all tips remain anonymous.

According to the CrimeStoppers website, their software makes it “possible for people to text us a tip, or to send a tip on the web – as well as the usual tip by phone – and still no one will ever know the tipster’s identity. AND, two-way communication -also completely anonymous- now is possible between citizens with a tip and police investigators.”
