MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Emptying glass from her shoes Thursday night, Brandi Marter tells us how her home was ransacked in the middle of the day Thursday.
“They made a huge mess. All the clothes are all over the floor. They’re looking for stuff, everything’s dumped out on the floor,” said Marter.
It’s unclear what they were looking for, but they walked away with several firearms.
This is the third time someone has tried to break into her home, this time ripping the only window without bars right out of the frame.
Marter said they came at the one point of the whole week they’re vulnerable.
“We have 3 big dogs. Our cleaning lady comes on Thursday and we have to take the dogs out, so you feel like people maybe paying attention to what you’re doing,” she said.
It’s alarming in the quiet neighborhood, which sits in the shadows of Sears Crosstown.
People told us they walk alone at night, have always felt safe here, but this seemingly calculated crime has them on alert.
“That makes me nervous, I never had, heard of anyone having problems in this neighborhood,” said Kayla Selby.
