FOUKE, Ark. — Three individuals are dead after a deadly pileup outside Texarkana early Tuesday morning.

According to CBS News, I-49 was shutdown in both directions as Arkansas State Troopers worked the scene.

Investigators said it all started after an initial crash in the southbound lanes.

Not too long after that, another crash happened in the northbound lanes.

As many as nine vehicles are said to have been involved.

One of the three people dead was possibly a truck driver who stopped on the side of the road to help, reported KSLA.

It’s still unclear what caused the initial crash.
