(Oxford, MS) Deer are infesting Oxford.

The city received complaints about the animals wrecking yards and causing car crashes.

The city created a deer management team.

Now, residents can call city hall, and the city will send out volunteer hunters to kill the deer with a bow and arrow.

City leaders said growth and development left no place for the deer, and it sent them into neighborhoods.

“They’re making these subdivisions around here and getting rid of their habitat. It’s just getting to be a real problem,” said resident Nita Lovelady.

The city wants to make it clear: they do not want to get rid of deer. They want to thin the population.

The program started in 2010, and it could take years.
