MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On Thursday, Delta Medical Center announced it will soon be changing it’s emergency room hours.
The medical facility is currently open 24 hours a day, but will begin cutting those hours back.
Starting on April 18, the emergency room will only be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. instead of around the clock.
“We estimate that approximately 80% of all patients admitted to our Emergency Department are not presenting with emergent needs and could be served at Urgent Care Centers or Clinics.” says Jeff Vosel, Administrator of Delta Medical Center.
However, the medical facility said it will continue to admit patients who are struggling with mental health or addiction issues at any time of the day.
